Turkey is dazzling destination for both Asians and Europeans. It’s culture, vast history, cuisine landscapes and glorious Mediterranean region makes it a must visit experience for a traveller. A few of them are listed below and should not be missed

Weather in Turkey:
Offers a noticeable variance in climate along with microclimatic changes with the change in regions. The Coastal areas are mild but as Black sea is colder than the Mediterranean which gives a different feel in both South and North of Turkey. And the interior areas have continental, cold and snowy winters.
Summers are usually dry with driest months are July to September with average temperature upto 24.5 °C (76 °F) in the Northern areas. Whereas winters you will rarely see the Sun and an average temperature of 5 °C (41 °F).
In the Southern coast Winters are mild with temperature around 15 °C (59 °F).
The capital of Turkey located in the central Plateau where summers are hot and dry 38/40 °C (100/104 °F). And Winters are cold and snowy, with an average temperature of 1 °C (34 °F), but the temperature drops with relative ease to -20 °C (-4 °F).
What to pack:
In winters for the north and west coast and in the South on the border with Syria carry warm clothes such as sweaters, fleece a down jacket, fur hats and same for central region.
In Summers carry light clothes for day time but also carry an Umbrella and a raincoat while in Istanbul and Trabzon and don’t forget a travelling sweatshirt in the eastern part of Black Sea zone. In the south, on the border with Syria, bring lightweight clothing of natural fibers, a and possibly a sweatshirt for outdoor.
Currency:
Turkish Lira is the official currency of Turkey TRY. You may easily exchange EUR and USD, Pound Sterling.
Exchange can be done in banks easily but currency exchange shops in markets are recommended.
Coins of Turkish Lira are called Kurus
Coins are: Kr 5, 10, 25, 50 and 1 TL. Basically one Turkish Lira is equal to 100 Kurus. Banknotes are: 5, 10 , 20 , 50, 100 and 200
Credit cards are accepted. VISA cards are accepted all over followed by Mastercard and Eurocard. While Amex cards can be used at expensive hotels & restaurants.
ATMs are easily available.
Do’s and Don’t’s in Turkey
Do’s
- Try Turkish cuisine and Turkish Tea
- Carry cash if you are visiting towns other than Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir.
- Do not mind Cats and dogs freely roaming on streets
- Be careful while crossing a street
- Visit Turkish Hamam (Turkish Bath)
- Put your Knife and Folk side by side on your plate once your meal is done
- Yes is a Nod of the head going downward and No is head going upward with a sound made with your front teeth.
- Dress appropriately when entering a Mosque. Avoid wearing tight fitting clothes, see through, mini skirts or deep neckline tops.
- Do learn to bargain in local bazaars
- Tipping is a must. Round up amount to pay to the taxi driver, leave about a dollar at the restaurant etc.
- Learn some Turkish words
- Dress Modestly to avoid unwanted attention
- Be considerate while consuming alcohol

- Do not forget to take off your shoes at the doorstep
- Do not refuse food & Tea if visiting someone personally
- Do not stand infront of a praying person or take photographs in Mosque
- Make sure to check bottle while ordering a drink
- Do not let taxi drivers take you on a scenic drive, you will end up paying more

- Do not stand with your hands on your hips or back pockets

- Do not make OK sign with your hand it is considered as a rude gesture
