Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is a cultural fusion of the East and the West, nestled right in the center of Turkey, Russia, and Iran. The country, known as the land of fire, gives you both a traditional and contemporary flavor. The land is covered with oil and gas reserves in most of Azerbaijan, even outside Baku. There are regions wherein oil and natural gas can be extracted and used as fuel from the earth. Over some of the reserves, volcanoes have evolved.

Tradition and Culture
Azerbaijan, situated in Asia, is bordered by Iran, Georgia, Armenia, and Russia. The lovely historic city, Icheri Sheher, is surrounded by medieval walls dividing it from the new area of the city. You can pass along ancient palaces and small apartments as you move through the narrow streets. The night will encourage you to visit the dazzling street of Nizami for dinner, shop, and stroll along some of the memorable pictures.

Mountains 
The Azerbaijani country offers you the possibility to get buried in the serenity of the northern snowcapped mountains. The Quba area has some fantastic walking opportunities. You can take several-day trips to the different villages in the region. Also, a fantastic place is Mount Babadag, or the sacred place. Many people make a pilgrimage to the mountains each year during the hiking period. You will join the tradition when you visit at the perfect time. The mountains are suitable for skiing as well.

Architecture
In the scenic town of Sheki, some of the popular destinations include the Khansarai Palace. These beautiful palace walls are built to make great geometrical patterns in colorful glass in the handcrafted wooden structures. Lahic is another lovely small town with picturesque cobblestone streets and stone buildings. The city is renowned for its copper craft. You can find small shops where decorative plates and pots can be purchased as souvenirs.

Azerbaijani Food
Without experiencing the local cuisine, no journey is complete. Its cuisine is a combination of Russian, Persian and Turkish. One of the popular dishes is freshly made bread with honey, cheese, and a specific cream. To form a notable dip, the three condiments are blended. A popular one is dovga, a yogurt soup with a sprinkle of coriander and dill. Another unique dish is Piti. It is lamb stew which is served on the side with potatoes and chickpeas. Azerbaijan has a profound passion for tea, too.
